Hello, future private practice owner!

Private practice building

Do you have it? Do you think about starting your own private practice? Many therapists have exactly what they need to do their work.  They have had training.  They have supervision.  They even have a specialization, or niche, that they are developing.

When thinking about what IT is, many therapists jump into private practice way too quick, often missing some key element of what it takes to launch right. You will want to think about you as the therapist, you as the entrepreneur and how to get support along the way.

It doesn’t happen over night.  Quite the contrary.  It takes time after you graduate and get provisionally licensed, to develop your presence in the community. And it takes even more time for people to know you, your services and your ethics and professionalism.

You as the Private Practice Entrepreneur

Have you considered what it takes to start up a new private practice business? For many therapists, being in control of your own schedule and income is the primary drive for going into private practice. There are many things to consider, from a business ethics lens, as well as a marketing lens. Your practice will begin to be sustainable if you pay attention to all of the pieces of launching your private practice.  Of course, there is the financial piece too.  Oh, so many avenues to explore before taking the big leap to launch!

Set aside time to think about not only how to start up the business, but also how people with interact with you.

  • Business structure and legal formation.
  • Website and marketing, including advertising.
  • Your ideal client avatar.
  • Forms and processes.
  • Referral sources and continued community contacts.

And, of course, you will want to make sure that you are setting yourself up for success. Doing this alone can be overwhelming and exhausting! Schedule private practice coaching to organize your thoughts, ideas and put an actionable plan in place.

Take your time....and be thorough and thoughtful!

Before you even begin, there are key elements of practice development to explore, that’s right, BEFORE you begin practicing, or even promoting your new practice.

It’s time to dive in! I’ve developed a Principle Practice Checklist to help you navigate some of the important parts of getting started. Click the button below to get your instant download of a helpful guide and checklist I developed to get you on your way.
